Patrol plan for the El Jebel area

The El Jebel community is a vital part of Eagle County—and it deserves consistent, connected law enforcement.
Because of its unique geography, El Jebel is separated from the rest of the county in ways that make local presence especially important. In the past, deputies were permanently assigned there—living in the community, building relationships, and becoming a trusted, familiar presence.
Today, that model has shifted to a rotating assignment, with deputies cycling in and out every couple of months.
While every deputy is committed to serving professionally, frequent rotation makes it harder to build the kind of long-term relationships that strengthen public safety. It can also create challenges in maintaining continuity, local knowledge, and trust within the community.
As Sheriff, I believe in bringing back permanent deputy assignments to El Jebel—deputies who are part of that community, who understand its unique needs, and who are invested in the people they serve.
When deputies live and work in the same community, it creates stronger connections, better communication, and a deeper sense of accountability. It’s not just about responding to calls—it’s about being present, approachable, and truly part of the community.
El Jebel deserves that level of commitment, and as Sheriff, I will work to restore it.
